How To Remove a
MENSTRUAL CUP

How to Remove a Menstrual Cup
Now that you have been wearing your ultra comfortable menstrual cup for hours, you are probably wondering how to remove a menstrual cup. Removing is done in a quick few steps: wash, relax, pinch & wiggle, empty – That’s easy!
If you are new to menstrual cups remember: A menstrual cup cannot get stuck, it only has one way to go and that is out. Follow our guide and removing your menstrual cup will be a breeze!

Wash
Always wash your hands before inserting or removing your menstrual cup. Remember to rinse off any soapy residue.

Relax
Think of puppies, ice-cream or rainbows, anything that will put you in a relaxed headspace.
Tension can tighten your vaginal muscles and make for an unpleasant removal. So breathe deeply and find your inner calm.

Pinch and Wiggle
Gently insert your fingers between your labia and locate the stem of your cup. Pull softly on the stem until you reach the base of the cup. Pinch the base of the cup and softly wiggle the cup down. Slide your finger along the side to release the suction. Empty your cup over the toilet, sink, or shower.
If you inserted your cup too high and struggle to reach the stem do not panic. (Your cup has nowhere to go but out). Breathe and relax. While sitting over the toilet or in a squatting position gently “push” with your pelvic muscles – this will lower the cup downwards for you to reach the stem and base, pinch to release the suction, and wiggle your cup down. Voila you have removed your cup!

Empty, Wash and Reinsert
Once you have removed your cup, empty the contents in the toilet or the sink. Rinse your cup with cold water first (warm water will set stains) then gently wash with mild detergent soap. Ensure you have cleaned the air holes and thoroughly rinse off any soapy residue. Then re-insert your cup. You do not have to sanitize your cup during your cycle, only at the end of your cycle.
